Having a "Riot"

So Friday night we decided to take the kids to "Riot Zone"... it is after all, as close as we get to an amusement park around here (which is very, very, sad!). Goober had asked me a couple of days before if we could go golfing... and while neither Jer or I play "real" golf and Goober had never even set foot on a real course, I decided Miniature golf was the way to go to see if he even enjoyed it. In the event that he didn't enjoy it, Riot Zone had other "stuff" the kids could do instead. We invited Gma and Gpa J to come with us.

Needless to say it was a hit.

I've been wanting to take my kids there since last summer, but somehow whenever it would occur to me we wouldn't have sufficient funds, if you know what I mean. Well, this time I made sure it happened.

They had a great area that was chalk full of inflatable toys. Everything from a jump house to inflatable boxing etc... It was wonderful cause EB could get involved too! He absolutely loved this big inflatable slide and went down it over and over and OVER.

After a while the adults all decided that it was time to leave the inflatable area. The kids were getting overheated (mine overheat really easily, something they definitely get from their mother... put them out in the sun and have them run around for five minutes and they are bright red. and not from sunburn. Though that happens occasionally too). As we were waiting to get something to drink EB decided he was just as interested in the drain as he has been in the inflatable toys. Silly kid jumped/stomped on it for about five minutes without any sign of distraction.

Missy somehow ended up with an "owey" on her finger. She was distraught. Thank goodness Gma J had some Band aids (though she didn't "technically" need one) and Gpa J had some good snuggles.

Then of course the Shaved Ice distracted her from the owey for the rest of the evening... even though it (the shaved ice) didn't last that long.

EB got mad at me every time I touched his cup. He wanted to do it himself dang it! So I let him... I did have wipes in my purse after all. :)

Jer (as always) was great with the kids and enjoyed a rare shaved ice as well. It seams that they become less common as you become an adult? or is that just that you remember them less? I dunno.

Missy had a hard time hitting rather than dragging her ball around the course. We tried a few times to help her out and then just let her do it however she wanted. Besides, we were there mostly for the kids anyways :) It was important that they had fun.

Goober was pretty good to stay off the "green" most of the time when others were taking their turns. Though most of the kids were oblivious to others the whole time we were on the golf course. They were almost comical with how often they would have been run over by an adult had the adult not been paying attention. Good thing the adults were though. :)
.
EB was really good while the rest of us played golf, and though Gma J couldn't play along with us (darned shoulder!) I was glad she came along anyways!
.
After golf we let the kids play on the inflatables again for a little while and then took off for home. .
Not only did we have fun, but we got to sleep in today as well. Double Bonus!

Great Neighbors

Today we had some of our neighbors that we don't know really well invite us and our kidlets over for a barbecue and a kids get together along with some other kids and families.

I've been meaning to get to know these neighbors better for a while and just never really could find a good opportunity to invite them over... so I'm glad they thought of us this weekend.

The kids had a blast in the water and lunch was wonderful and the company was great.

It's always good to get to know people better and to get to know new people. I have to say it was a really enjoyable day! :)

We're baaaack!

Hihi,

We have returned! Must be a curse ... I know! But much to your chagrin I'm sure we made it home safely. :o) Just kidding OF COURSE!!!

Anywhys...

We had fun in good ol' Utaho. We took the kids to a great children's museum there, went to a planetarium, took them to temple square on Sunday, and went to a dinosaur park. Needless to say we pretty much turned the whole doctors trip into a family vacation!

So this morning before we came home we went to the doctor. A behavioral specialist.
I was concerned because G has to be told to do things about 3 times before he ever moves to do them, he has a hard time concentrating when there is any background noise, and he can't seam to follow sequences aka "Go get your socks, then put on your shoes, and after that go get your coat on." He gets his socks and looses track of what he is doing. there are other things as well but that is the main part. Anyways. After the doctors played some games with him and had him answer some questions he basically said he isn't ruling anything out at this point as far as A.D.D. or other things but that with the lack of family history in the A.D.D. department he hesitated to say it was that.

What he did say was that he needs a hearing test (not a big surprise) to make sure he hasn't got any issues hearing high frequencies. Basically G is really intelligent for his age (tests at the level of a 6 year old) but his language skills are lacking (He tests at the 4 year old level where he is very nearly 5 years old). The doctor thinks that this may be the reason for the issues G is having with everything from following instructions to potty training issues (which Dr. said was closely related to language skills). He sent home some questionnaires for Jer and I to fill out and for G's teacher to fill out, he is also sending stuff to our pediatrician here in IF. he did say he wasn't overly concerned about G at this point but that we need to keep tabs on the situation and make sure that if it continues or gets worse by the time he is in kindergarten then we may need to do more testing.

Anyways, I feel good about the doctors visit. he seamed competent and very personable and like he was being proactive as far as our concerns about our son go. Overall I liked him and was so glad he didn't just try to brush us off and tell us it was all in our heads. :)

I plan on posting some pictures of our trip tomorrow once we are settled again.

Feeling Better Already!

Wow, a little exercise can do a lot!

I never have been one to exercise on a regular basis... I did a little as a teen and in college but life would get in the way and I wouldn't "make" time to do it so I would always fall off the horse (figuratively speaking).

Well, people are right, it does feel good! Why is it that I dreaded it so much? It helps my whole day go smoother! That and suddenly I have all this energy.

For instance, after a day full of moving furniture all around the house to make room for Gavin to have his own room downstairs, Jer and I took the kids to Wal-Mart (aka Voldemort) to get a couple of last minute things. What we wanted was out so out the door we went with our 2 carts and 3 kids (boys in one girls in the other)... before I knew it Jer and I were racing carts, running full speed to the truck. The kids thought it was a blast and I actually wasn't winded afterwords.

The whole racing thing doesn't happen very often because I used to find that even after a short run I was so winded I would cough and cough especially if the air outside was cold. NOT LAST NIGHT THOUGH! Hooray! I thought it was fun... even afterwords when I usually would have been huffing and puffing like the big bad wolf! Yay for exercise and not feeling like a slightly deflated basketball that someone is trying to bounce but that they have to throw extra hard just to get it to do what it is supposed to do with no problem.

Now I'm starting to feel like the perky cheerleader on speed.... YIPPEE, GO US!
