Saying "I'm Done"

when I'm clearly not.

This year I got a start on Christmas late. NEVER again! I tell you! I will never do that again. I have found that by starting late I have succeeded in making the season stressful for the whole family.

You know, that whole "If mama ain't happy, nobody is" thing.

Basically, because I have been worried/stressed out about gifts for others (and this includes two birthdays that fall on tomorrow and Monday) I have been grouchy. And I think because I have been grouchy my kids are acting up and not listening as well as usual... which I have to admit isn't fabulous but it's better than it has been the last couple of weeks!

So today, I decided I'm done. I'm not going to stress about gifts for others anymore. I have my kids Christmas done and my thing for the hubby. I have my parents and in-laws done. Yes, I would love to get things for all of our friends and and co-workers etc.... but honestly, if it's a choice between enjoying a little bit of the season with my kids or getting something small for a gazillion people...

I think I'll pick my kids thanks.

Happy Holidays and if you don't see anything from me, know it's not because I don't really care, it's because I truly DO care about the season and don't want to ruin it for three very special kids.

Oh CRAP!

So Jer stayed home from work today. No reason, just because he has been trying to get "demand time" ie. time off just cause you want it. Oh, but there is a catch! You have to get the person to answer YOUR phone line at work instead of the fifty bazillion OTHER people trying to do the same thing while there are still enough "spots" open for that day. Only a certain number of people can have any given day off. And Jer has been trying to be one of those people every day since early January! Holycrapola. What a pain in the Buttocks!

Anyways, Jer got the day off :)

So he took some time this afternoon to do some "Valentines" shopping. We aren't usually very big on holidays. Gifts are great, but we aren't overly stuck on them, if you know what I mean. For the most part our feelings on holidays are that we can take them or leave them....

He came home and had to give me my present early, I think this is due to the fact that at this moment in time there is no place in our house that you can safely hide anything without me finding it while unpacking everything else! Anyways, I was greatly surprised when he showed me what he got for me....

A WATER SOFTENER!!!!!!

YIPPEE HOORAY!!! LESS CLEANING! LESS DRY SKIN! LESS MONEY SPENT ON SHAMPOO ETC. ETC!

Need I mention he thinks water softeners are of the deviiiil? As in "the frew-its of the Dev-il"? He hates soft water. Which is one of the main reasons that I was both surprised and touched by this gift....

I honestly wondered if I would ever have one and the niceties that go with it. aka not having to make Goober put Vaseline on his eczema spots every time he changes clothes.... and not having white shirts etc turn gray anymore! I grew up with a water softener and I can hardly wait to get it hooked up!

Oh Crap.... now I have to figure out what to do for HIM for valentines.....

Ummmm ... what do you get teachers for Christmas??

I mean REALLY!?!?

I have no clue what to get Goober's teacher for Christmas. NO CLUE. I mean, what do you get for someone you really don't even know as much as an acquaintance?

I have no idea what this lady likes. Hopefully she likes kids (Goober seams to like her, so she must.... right?) I don't want to get her something she is inclined to just throw away. Cause even stuff that you are inclined to throw away cost someone some moola, ya know?

So any ideas people? really, I'm at a total loss here. SPILL IT! :D
