Absolutely love them.
Recently Jer's Aunt had her mother pass away. Her mom and siblings live here in town but she, her husband, and her kids mostly live in Utah.
Well, due to her mother passing, they needed to come up here for the funeral. I believe that all 7 of Jer's cousins were able to come for the service.
HOW COOL IS THAT!?!?
I have only two sisters and it's like pulling teeth to get us together.
Anywho, Jer's Aunt and about four of his cousins and some of their kids all came to spend the night here. There were over 13 extra people in the house last night and can I say it was SO FUN.
I love to watch big, close families and how they banter with each other and tease, how well their children get along, and more. I honestly think people that have families like this tend to take them for granted. (I'm not saying these guys do though! They even had a sister and her family who came clear from Australia, yes.... not that little country in Europe... that HUGE country down under)
I have always quietly wished for a big close family... who knows, maybe some day I'll have one. :)
All the cousins were so nice, and even though I'm not an immediate family member or married to one I didn't feel at all out of place or excluded.
Most of the Girl's sat, talked and generally hung out most of the evening. Most of the guys got into playing board games and the like. Heck, Jer was up playing games with one of his cousins till 3:30 am. :D
I think that Jer's Aunt and Uncle were worried about overwhelming us with all the people. I told them we could handle it, it was after all only one night :) Honestly, I think we could have fit all of the siblings that stayed the night in town without much problem. I appreciate their being concerned about it though, thoughtfulness is always a nice thing. I really hope we have an occasion to see them again. It's nice to feel a part of something like that, even if I AM only a married in cousin.

sorry for your loss. but, i do agree- big families are awesome.
So does this mean you'll have 7 or more kids to add to the three you already have??? :) Yes, big families are fun.
It's so funny - in the world's view, you come from a "big family" - with three kids and all! In San Diego, when I only had two kids, I had a complete stranger come up to me in WinCo and say, "Um, you should slow down with the procreation."
