My poor children. Once they become teenagers they may wish they had different parents. :)
It's pretty bad when a five year old and a three year old look at you as if YOU are the strange one. Just imagine when they get to be thirteen or so.
This evening Jer was making dinner for the kidlets (or as he referred to them tonight... the "byproducts"... while funny, it does have kind of a mean sound to it, so I won't use that in reference to my beloved kiddos.) While he was cooking, I was getting dishes put away. We were listening to the radio as we did our things.
Now, I don't know about you, but in my honest opinion the radio stations on Saturdays stink. They usually have a wannabe funny DJ who really is not funny, so they end up just being sad. Then they insist on playing kinda lame old school songs. Not usually the "cool" old school, but the ones you don't hear anymore for a reason... ya know?
Well, as we listened and did our stuff the song "Jump Around" by House of Pain came on.
Seeing that both Jer and I were in a good mood, we both started singing along and dancing.
Jer and I both started jumping up and down at the prescribed time. In unison.
Meanwhile, Goober, Missy, and EB are sitting at the table waiting to be fed. And looking at us like we have gone INSANE. After the song was over we of course stopped jumping and laughing.
Goober: "is this another OLD song?"
Me: "Yup, but not as old as what we were listening to earlier"
I had been listening to The Beatles on Pandora.com and singing along then too. I think my son already has us labeled as the parents who are strange. Just you wait... that "strange" just might turn into "embarrassing" then we can have a LOAD of fun!!!! MWAHAHAHAHA!

I'm totally going to be the embarrassing mom, I just know it! And Pete will be the embarrassing dad. Ah, yes, therapy is in my children's futures!
I know I would've been jumping during that song, too! It's nice to be in the mood to groove along with it! And as for that sad dating service, sounds like you guys mesh so well, you'll never need anything like that. You guys are fun. =)
I love, love, love that you two were jumping to that song. Awesome. Your kids are lucky to have such fun parents. And I love the "by products." :)
That was on a couple of Friday's ago in the morning for the oldie song on the Z any way I did the same thing as I was getting breakfast ready and cranked it up way high and was jumping like I crazy lady. My son just covered his ears and said "MOm that is way to loud" and looked at me like I had three heads. I am definetly on the same track for being the embarrassing one!!! Enjoy it!
Getting old...isn't it weird?
Just wait until stores start playing your favorite oldies, first in Muzak, then for real . . .
