Ok, let me tell you a little story....
ONCE UPON a time there was a little house. This house was a happy little house. It stood up tall, and only wanted for it's owners to take good loving care of it.
One day soon after this house had come into being it got it's first owners.... Oh what high ambitions it had! It was so hopeful that it's owners would love it and treat it well. And for the most part they did.
Except for the fact that apparently they couldn't cook very well, because often the little house would fill with smoke and it's fire alarms would scream and annoy the WHOLE neighborhood. While the smoke would clear out pretty quickly with the easy opening of a few windows and doors the CRAP on the stove remained. And gathered. And seeped into new unknown places. And the next time the owners would cook there was a nasty smell that would commence due to burnt crud under the burners.
They only did things for the little house with half of their hearts. And the little house wasn't very happy.
One summer the owners got a new job and had to move away, leaving the little house empty and waiting for new owners to come along. Summer went and fall came. Then fall went and winter came. And the snow piled up and was never shoveled. And the little house was sad and felt unwanted and was having a hard time wanting to stand tall.
Then one day new people came along and saw some real potential for the little house that was still managing to stand tall after so many months of being alone.
They bought the house, and they cleaned the house, and they put pictures on the walls and made it feel like a home. Their children were crazy, but full of laughter, and the little house had hope once again....
The only thing the little house was still waiting for was something to be done about all that crud in the stove...
One night as New Mr. Owner was cooking dinner for the little kidlets he discovered that not only was the stove dirty, it was FILTHY. It even lit a small fire under the burner because of all the crud there. He then proceeded to avoid that burner while cooking...
And the new little house still had hope that someone might take pity on it's little stove....
Then one day Mrs New Owner DID! She looked at the stove and said "Ick!!! That's disgusting!!! Something MUST BE DONE!!!" and she proceeded to take the little stove apart and start scrubbing it with a sponge, but this was not enough.... Then she pulled out the Magic Eraser and scrubbed very hard. Even so much that she used up a WHOLE Magic Eraser in ONE go....but alas, it was NOT enough. So then she started to get pissed and a little miffed that OBVIOUSLY someone had never taught the old owners how to clean up after themselves in the kitchen!!! So she resorted to drastic measures and pulled out the SOS pads full of all that harsh steel wool stuff and proceed to scrub, scrub, and scrub some more. And alas the CRUSTINESS started to abate. After two full hours of soaking and scrubbing, scrubbing and soaking.... she could start to see the actual color of the trays underneath the burners! And she was happy because there was hope! And after more cleaning the little stove was SPOTLESS!!! And she was very please with herself for doing so much work cleaning up other peoples messes. In fact she even bragged to her mother about what a good job she did! Then she decided she would even blog about it. mememememe! Look what I can do!!!
And the little house was VERY HAPPY!!!

Hee, hee. I too once bought a sad little house looking for a new owner because its old owner didn't know how to clean up a kitchen. And when I moved out and passed that house along to my brother, they bought a new oven.
Thanks for letting me stalk your blog.
I love it! That is so cute! It reminds me of that book, The Little House. My total favorite book growing up. I should buy that for my kids... Anyways, I hate it when people ruin stoves and ovens. We lived in many apartments with old crusty crap all over the poor things. Scrubbing old, burnt-on food is no fun at all. I'm glad it's over. And I love your new house! So cute!!
Oooh, your stove is spotless! Hey, you should line your tray things with foil; my mom did that growing up and it was so nice-if something overflowed you can just change the foil instead of scrubbing your elbows off cleaning again. Not that that helps with the INSIDE, but still.
Cute! This reminds me of that Disney cartoon (I think it was Disney) about the little house that was sad then it got a new owner...
What a cute little house! I love it! And how you describe it. =) Congratulations on persistence! It paid off! =)
You should have just bought new inserts...just a couple bucks at Home Depot...makes for a good blog though.
