...most often doesn't mean misandry. If you don't know what misandry means... it's the opposite of misogyny. Misandry is the hatred of men and boys.
Feminism is not that at it's core, though many self professed "feminists" are. I think that is because these "man haters" don't know of a better word for what the feel. That word is misandryist, not feminist.
Feminism is "the doctrine advocating social, political, and all other rights of women equal to those of men." not the doctrine advocating that women are better than men.
Equal.
Or as Jer would say "so really, your an equal-ist." .... well, yes I am.
How is that bad?

It's not bad. I am an equal-ist, as well. When I was dating Ben, and I met his mom, I said something about me being "a bit of a feminist," and she wigged out. She thought feminist=misandry, I think. Ben grew up with his mom doing every single chore in the house, slaving over perfect meals, doing every single thing that the kids needed, no help from her husband, etc., etc., and Ben has had to really adjust to my kind of house, where we both work together. I make him get off his butt and help me, and I think part of him wishes he had a woman like his mom. Too bad, Ben! Hahaha!
Yes, the connotation of feminism has turned into misandry. I'm all about women having the same rights as men. I couldn't imagine living before suffrage.
When many men marry they somehow confuse the role of "wife" with that of "mother."
Too bad feminism has gotten such a bad stereotypical rap as somehow a bunch of combative b-----s wanting to run over men. Though, perhaps the movement was originally misunderstood, as people generally hate change. I recall that the whole "bra burning" thing was taken out of context by the media which inflamed the public so much that bra burnings actually DID take place! Go figure.
