A different take on a political leader...

And yes, it's a democrat...

I like the way it is written and the incite into character and his family. To be clear, I'm not a Democrat, but I don't see anything wrong with trying to see people more clearly for their positive attributes.

I went into the article not knowing who Harry Reid is. It was only when I googled his name that I found the that he made unfavorable comments which apparently led to others' distate for him.

It's interesting how easy it is to find negative information on any political figure, every move they make, every word they say - it's all dissected and normally, only the negative stuff is what is remembered about them.

As you stated, the article attempts to shed some light of some positive attributes of the man, although the author failed to really give any clear examples. From the article, I discovered that Mr. Reid has smart kids that are well-versed in the LDS faith. I learned that he was trying to keep the gambling industry honest. I learned that the author thinks highly of Mr. Reid and thinks he is honorable.

Although the article doesn't exactly give the reader any distinct examples of what Mr. Reid has done to earn his respect and favor, I do have to admit that it is refreshing to see any article dealing with a politician that has a positive spin on it.

This is how Christ wants us to see each other. While we all have differing opinions and beliefs, one thing that we all have is the need to feel loved and accepted.

I agree with the writer that even if you don't agree with the man's politics, at least try to see him as a human being that has done good things in his life.

Christ never turns his back on any one human being. That's an example we should all be following.

Thanks for the read!

You are awesome - you keep me in tune with what is going on in the political world. I had no idea who Harry Reid was until I googled him, like Loni. I can tell people are mad at him - is it because he's the democratic majority leader and the health care bill passed? Is that the deal? I couldn't find anything that said he had said unfavorable things. I'm so clueless. But I'm a little more clued in than I was before, thanks to my political informant, Apes.

P.S. Thanks for bringing that certificate for Gold's over to my house! Mom said you and she had a good chat. I wish I had been home!

Harry Reid is courageous, I think. To be active politically and serve your fellow citizens nowadays a person has to be willing to open their whole lives to public scrutiny -- a public who has, fairly recently, lost all semblence of civility and seems to know no self-control, often forgetting there are real people with real feelings on the other end of their vitriol. And then there's the spin . . . I get so tired of hearing some tear others down. If these people the Spin Dr.'s have villified are so bad, then why don't the naysayers offer to do better and serve their country themselves instead of selling their cheap talk to broadcasting networks for big money? Put it on the line. It's easy to stir people to anger. More difficult is to inspire others to greatness.
