Poor Spidey...

So, for those who don't know, I'm currently in the process of potty training Turbo. Yes, he is actually pretty old for this (about 3 and a half) but after the fiasco potty training Goober I really just wasn't up for the fight.

So, a couple of weeks ago Turbo decided it was time to go in the potty, hey! I wasn't going to fight him! If he wanted to that is awesome. So off on the potty train we went.

He got down #1 really fast, he is still having some issues with #2 but that could be due to unset tummy issues etc.

Today after an accident he exclaimed to Jer "But I don't want to poop on Spiderman!"

Now, his undies had wolverine on them, but he has others with spidey on them. Needless to say, I'm really glad he is getting the point that ... er... no one likes to be pooped on?

Silly Kidlets

Okay, I know I haven't posted in a while... but I was just uploading pictures to my computer and thought I would share... because I find some of them amusing. :)

Often, after Jer comes home from work, I will walk through the living room to something like this:

I hit my "wall" at about 1-2pm and feel like I need a nap... he hits his right after dinner.

On this day Turbo was making a weird face... often. Jer and I were trying to figure out what was up with it.

He would even do it upside down...

Then Missy decided she wanted in on the action... and Turbo decided he wasn't done apparently.

Then it turned into the "Duck Face"

Jer and I got laughing pretty hard about this... you know how some girls pull this face thinking it's somehow sexy? Yeah? well... we don't get that and think it's absurd and a little atrocious looking.

The other night we went up to my parents house... the kids were having a lot of fun and at one point Jer used my parents washable markers to make a mark on Missy's face. Missy got upset and Jer had to show her that it washed off... then the boys saw it and decided they wanted to be "Spider man!"

Yeah, I'm starting to think that "washable markers" should also be called "face paint markers".

And here is Goober's "Serious" spidey pose...

And Turbos "spidey" pose...

Peace out. :)

Sorry.

Last week I didn't post as ALL. I had intended to, but first off, I didn't have much to say on Monday and didn't feel like anyone (myself included) would appreciate it if I just posted some random crap that no one (myself included) really cared about :)

Turbo turned 3 last Wednesday. He enjoyed the cake I made him and tried to hide in embarrassment with everyone sang "Happy Birthday" to him... and of course he made out like a bandit as far as gifts. The kid loves anything reptilian... what can I say?

He loves everything he got... and I'm glad I was able to be there.

Earlier that day I had started coughing up blood. Scary. But at least not as scary as it could have been. In February I had had a small experience with coughing up blood that only lasted a couple of minutes. But because it unnerved me so much I went the to doctor who had an X-ray and a D timer done, which came out normal. I had figured it was a fluke.... since sometimes weird things happen that can't be explained. They told me to call if it happened again. Which it didn't, until Wednesday.

So because I didn't die last time I figured I would be okay until I could get into the doctor this time.

Thursday morning I went into the doctor who was concerned. She said that other than coughing up blood (which I was still doing) I had no symptoms, which was odd. And because she doesn't like unexplained things and she tends to be proactive she ordered an MRI for Monday. She also gave me permission to still go to Utah on Friday night... so I did.

Anyhow, we will see what all happens come Monday.

Oooooo lights....

So today I slacked off (I know, I know... I need to get a handle on this slacking off addiction I have going... I've determined after long -cough, cough- minutes of study that laziness breeds itself! Boy am I hosed!) and I went to my parents house for the day.

The kids adore my parents and my mom is the bomb and plays "hide-and-seek" with them over and over again (even though my kids always hide in the same places every time).

Today when I left to come home my dad gave each of my kids a little light that he manufactures for work. This light is cool, it changes color each time you turn it on and its -dundundun- waterproof. Which means that it's a little kids heaven! All the way home my kids begged for me to let them take a bath with their lights when they got home.

Turbo took the first one (hence the picture at the top of the entry, yup, that's Turbo in be bath with his light!) and each of my kids took their turns after that.

Ahhhhh how would life be if I could be entertained  by water and lights for hours?

Oh, wait... I still can... maybe that is why I never seem to have enough time!

Stitches

This weekend we went to Utah to visit the Tulip Festival at Thanksgiving Point (which I will go into in a later post... I don't want to overload everyone on a Monday and all!) It was a wonderful weekend... well, except for the 4 hour stay at the hospital.

On Sunday as we were about to grab lunch and head back to Idaho we had a bit of a surprise. Jer hit the brakes really fast to avoid a wreck and low and behold Turbo's seat was not buckled in!

Now, I don't know who or what undid his seat belt... I suspect one of the older kids did while trying to undo their own seat belt at some point. It doesn't really matter though, honestly, whos fault it was... Jer and I didn't notice it until too late.

Turbo (seat and all) went flying into the folded up seat in front of him. One that was folded in such a way that the poky underside was facing him. (!!!!!) Jer and I both looked back to a stunned two year old smashed into the seat directly behind Jer... and then there was blood.

I quickly climbed into the back of the van, lifting Turbos care seat and him back into their original position. His ear was severely cut, with a large tear that went through the cartilage. I quickly looked to see if his head was also cut, which I was greatly relived to find was not the case.

Jer quickly tried to navigate to the nearest hospital.... unfortunately Salt Lake is always a freaking construction MESS and of course when there is construction no one seems to notice that the HOSPITAL signs lead right through CLOSED ROADS. UGH.

After about 15 minutes we arrived at the Intermountain LDS hospital and were able to get things taken care of.

The poor kiddo had to be sedated so that they could sew up his ear... little kids and moving and all of that jazz. He ended up with 12 stitches and taking a long while to really get back to his "normal" self.

Anyhow, I'm glad things didn't turn out worse, because they very easily could have! Thank heavens for small (?) miracles!

(no worries, the inside of his ear is fine... that's just a little dried blood because the darned kid won't keep the gauze on the thing)

Feeding Birds who Aren't Hungry.

This weekend the weather has been beautiful... so of course I told Jer we should go "Feed the ducks" at the river. Then I proceeded to scan pictures, because Turbo was taking a nap.

Well, little did I know, at some point Jer snuck upstairs and cleaned out the freezer (which is where I chuck all the bread heals that no one in our family really wants to eat, so that at some point I can take the kids and feed it to the ducks.). He gathered all of the frozen bread heals into one bag and set them on the counter to thaw.

When Turbo got up Jer decided it was time to go, which I was glad for because I've been kind of mopey today (weird, I know, for a perfectly sunny day... I think it may have to do with the fact that this is the time of year I want to totally revamp the yard in about a bazillion ways then I realize that there is definitely not enough funds for that...), we loaded the kidlets into the van and off we went to "feed the ducks".

Well, the ducks really weren't that hungry (everyone else in town apparently had the same idea and the poor things were gorged)... but the kids still enjoyed huking small pieces of bread into the river and watching them either a) sink for the fish to eat, or b) the seagulls swoop down and scoop them up.

After the bread was gone we all just sat and watched the birds for a while.

Turbo wasn't terribly happy with trying to look at me with the bright sun in his eyes, but HEY, there was SUN! Yay!

Now I just have to figure out what I'm going to plant in my garden...

Mother Nature... I think we need to have a talk about APPROPRIATE April Fools Jokes...

Turbo really enjoyed it though... however the rest of us weren't terribly happy about it... maybe next time you can just surprise us with a early day of summer... M'Kay?

Eating snow is always a blast apparently... :)

Obsessed Much?

(Turbo and Jer this morning)

Turbo is a funny kid. He adores anything "Dinosaur" or "Crocodile" ... or really anything that is remotely lizard-like... this includes dragons of course. He commandeered one of Goober's sweatshirts (that has a dinosaur on it) and refuses to let Goober actually wear the darned thing without throwing a fit because he "wannit!"

Every day he asks to wear his "Dinos-or" shirt (he has three including the commandeered one) and when one isn't clean he is not a happy camper. He loves Shrek because of the Dragon, he loves Ice Age 3 because of "Roooo-deee", and he always asks Goober to play the "Cock-a-dile" level on LittleBigPlanet...

He recently discovered that when Jer plays World of Warcraft one of his characters has a flying dragon mount and a dinosaur mount he can ride too. He gets upset whenever Jer is playing another character or when his character is not in a place that he can be on his mounts. lol

Needless to say... I will definitely have to make sure he sees "How to train your dragon" when it comes out in theaters! Silly kiddo :)

Ummm, Where the H*ll do I put my Coat?!

Okay, so I have to admit, that when we bought our house we failed to notice the lack of a coat closet (among other things). The house is a split level so the entry isn't very large either... so no building one in, and the layout of the house doesn't provide any room to bust a wall out and install one.

So once we noticed there wasn't a place to put our coats (pretty quickly I might add) I started to try to think up solutions. At one point we hung up a set of hooks so that we could hang our coats on the wall in the entry... Goober eventually pulled it down over the course of many days of tugging on his coat to get it down, which of course I nagged him not to do. The solution I have finally set upon is to put a bench in the entry and then a coat tree in the opposite corner.

After setting on this solution I promptly procrastinated it. We put a set of hooks over the laundry room door (downstairs) and made due until I could find stuff I liked.

Then I got caught up with life and didn't even look for stuff I liked. Any other mom's do this? I'd imagine so.

Anyhow, recently my mom showed me a bench in one of the many magazines she receives in the mail. It was much like my bar stools in my kitchen and looked like it would fit well with my taste and fit in the designated area. I thought it was cute and said as much. Mom asked if it might work if she ordered it (she had a discount or gift certificate of some sort for this particular magazine) and had it sent to my house and then I would pay her the difference. This was fine with me, since--of course-- it encouraged me to get off my lazy arse bum and do something about the issue... well, technically I wasn't really required to get off my bum at all... just write a check lol.

So alas the bench came via UPS today and I quickly put it together.

Fits pretty well, and Turbo definitely likes it... guess this means I should probably start looking for a coat tree, eh? :)

Turbo and the Computer

Jer took the day off of work today and since he is home he set up his old computer for the kids.
This is the first time Turbo has ever had an opportunity to use a computer.

"It's Too Much Mom!"

So yesterday after I finished painting the kitchen I was talking to my mom on the phone... wandering around the house picking up stuff and placing things back where they needed to be in the kitchen.

The older kids had gone to see if friends could play, and apparently found one at home. Turbo was in the backyard in his snow gear cause that was where he wanted to be.

As I wondered around blabbing to my mother, I considered going downstairs and picking up things there... I'm glad I didn't.

Blah, Blah, Blah *squeak* ??

I look up at the back window and see a big streak of mud.... and behind that mud? A face... and more mud.

"Oh, crap, mom I have to go!"

Turbo had apparently found some nice gooey mud in the backyard. And from what it looked like he had bathed in it! To give you an idea, I considered hosing him down... IN JANUARY! And then discarded that idea for one that involved stripping him down on the back deck.

Apparently he didn't care that his clothes were wet and muddy, just that his hands (which were holding his mud soaked gloves) had gotten soiled. Even then I had to bribe him with a bath to get him to let me take off his clothes!

The whole time he was looking at his hands exclaiming "It's too MUCH mom! It's too MUCH!"

And It's Started....

The beginning stages of potty training that is.... Oh the joys of Potty Training.

I think the Energizer Bunny aka EB aka Turbo will probably have the least restrictive potty training experience on the planet. After all the joy of potty training Goober, I don't want to make the same mistake again. I WILL NOT make this a power struggle. Been down that road... don't want to visit again.

So basically potty training Turbo will be all his choice. No pushing from mom.

Today he asked me if he could use the potty... so I let him try. He sat for a couple then decided he was done and wanted to flush the potty. Great. Nooooo problem. Then I asked if he wanted me to put a diaper on him or undies (I bought him some undies the other day, just in case). For the first time he responded undies. So we put some one him.

I have no clue how long those undies will stay unsoiled, but HEY! He wants to wear them so YIPPY! it's a step. And if they become wet and he doesn't want to wear them anymore... fine. Great by me. I'm not going to push it. I truly believe that that was my #1 mistake while potty training Goober... that and the fact that I didn't know how to tell if he was "ready" because he is my oldest child.

Honestly, I don't remember much about potty training Missy. It went to smooth... I was just happy it was done. I think she was done in less than a week. Goober on the other hand I struggled with for years. If you think I'm kidding, I really wish I was. I potty trained Missy while I was still trying to potty train Goober. They are 2 years age difference. You do the math.

I am bound and determined with Turbo to make it all his choice... he has a couple of years till I have to make it more than that. And at that point I can talk logic (though not much).

Anyhow, wish Turbo luck and cross your fingers that he chooses to do this quickly (for me, ya know.)
