Beautiful Day

Okay, so last Wednesday was Goober's 8th birthday!  I can't believe the kids is getting so big! We had a couple of small family parties for him over Memorial Day weekend since my sister Jo was in town and then on Monday Jer's sister was in town. It may not look like the kid got much celebrating, but he definitely got enough sugar for the birthday over the weekend! :D

Anywho, Wednesday was the first truly nice day we have had this spring yet so we joined friends for a picnic lunch at the park, which was fun despite the never ending windy wind o'Idaho.

After we got home from lunch Grandma S bought cupcakes from the Cocoa Bean for Goobers birthday (mmmmm they are SO GOOD! Better than that other place for sure. They look so good you doubt that they can possibly taste good... and then WHAM! A Miracle! Someone figured out how to make awesome looking, great tasting cupcakes!).

That evening we met up at another park with a couple of friends I hadn't seen in a VERY long time.

Ahren and Rachelle were some of my very best high school friends. We were almost always together, so not fair that they look just like they used to!!! :D It was great to see them though! And the kids had a blast playing too!

That picture is missing three of the kiddos ( four if you count Turbo who is hiding behind one of Ahren's girls in this picture lol) Missy made quick friends with Ahren's youngest daughter, and Ahren's 7 month old son isn't up for racing down hills quiiiiite yet ;)

Here's one with all of us (Except Ahren's hubs who was taking the picture, thanks Aaron!) Sorry it's a little fuzzy, apparently I need to clean my camera's lens :P maybe they got one that wasn't fuzzified!?

Sorry.

Last week I didn't post as ALL. I had intended to, but first off, I didn't have much to say on Monday and didn't feel like anyone (myself included) would appreciate it if I just posted some random crap that no one (myself included) really cared about :)

Turbo turned 3 last Wednesday. He enjoyed the cake I made him and tried to hide in embarrassment with everyone sang "Happy Birthday" to him... and of course he made out like a bandit as far as gifts. The kid loves anything reptilian... what can I say?

He loves everything he got... and I'm glad I was able to be there.

Earlier that day I had started coughing up blood. Scary. But at least not as scary as it could have been. In February I had had a small experience with coughing up blood that only lasted a couple of minutes. But because it unnerved me so much I went the to doctor who had an X-ray and a D timer done, which came out normal. I had figured it was a fluke.... since sometimes weird things happen that can't be explained. They told me to call if it happened again. Which it didn't, until Wednesday.

So because I didn't die last time I figured I would be okay until I could get into the doctor this time.

Thursday morning I went into the doctor who was concerned. She said that other than coughing up blood (which I was still doing) I had no symptoms, which was odd. And because she doesn't like unexplained things and she tends to be proactive she ordered an MRI for Monday. She also gave me permission to still go to Utah on Friday night... so I did.

Anyhow, we will see what all happens come Monday.

HOLY CRAP! He's SEVEN!

That's it! He broke his promise!!!! He PROMISED me he wouldn't ever turn seven... and now he has! Sheesh! ;)

I can't believe that my Goober is seven. He is such an awesome kid! Riding a bike without training wheels, running here and there to friends houses going into the 2nd grade next fall! Kid, your making your mom feel OLD!

Boy do I adore you though... you truly changed my life and helped me to see how much greater it can be! I'm so glad I'm YOUR mom! Thanks for being such a great kid!

Cake Wrecks...

Okay, most of you know I'm not really keen on cooking. I really don't like it much, I tend to use mixes or pick easy fast recipes if I do cook. Either that or Jer cooks.... cause he likes it.

Well, on Friday I decided that we would do a get together for Missy's birthday... just family, you know the routine!

Anyhow, on Friday morning I clean, clean, cleaned the house (cause it was narsty and looked like the filth-monster had come and vomited all over and that is just embarrassing with the in-laws and everyone comes over!). Somewhere in the middle of all of that I got Missy up so that she could get ready and then help me make her cake. She had expressly asked if she could help the day before and I said yes... so, we mixed the cake (cause I was very non-molly and bought a mix from Voldemort) and shoveled it into the oven and I set the timer.

Missy and Turbo went downstairs to watch the Incredibles while I started to clean the narsty bathrooms...

40 minutes later my timer goes off.... and I take the cake out of the oven (burning my thumb in the process, see I told you I had skill!). I took a look at the cake and thought "that doesn't look right...." and then I raced off to take Missy to preschool with her store bought treats for her classmates and went to lunch with my mom. Once I got home I showed mom the cake and said "I don't think it raised..." and she reaffirmed my thoughts with a definite... "Nope, didn't raise! But that's okay, I'm sure it tastes fine."

So after I went to pick Missy up from preschool and Goober got off the bus I loaded everyone into the van and headed back to Voldemort... and bought another cake mix, but a different brand... because HEY! The last one was FAIL. Then we all headed home and I made the cake again, put it in the oven and went beck to cleaning....

This time the cake did rise. Unfortunately it didn't cool fast enough though and I tried to get it out of the bundt pan before it was ready because, dangit people were going to be coming soon!

Yah, then commenced the cake wreck. I even said it was a cake wreck, which triggered Missy's tears... I quickly told her it would taste great and that I would still let her put the sprinkles on it! Because Missy really wanted to put the sprinkles on something...Which meant I had to try to frost the narsty thing...

At least she had fun pouring the sprinkles on it... and I wasn't in the least tempted to micro manage that, it was unlikely that the poor girl could make it any worse than it already was....

So I quickly called my mom and had her pick up a cake!

Much better! Happy Birthday again Missy!

Happy 5th Missy!

Happy Birthday Girlie! Wow, she is already FIVE. Holy crapola... she's going to be in Kindergarten next year!

Missy is my sweet cuddle-bug and boy can she pull faces. I have to admit it was with some trepidation that I found out I was having a daughter, but you know what? I wouldn't trade her for the WORLD!

April Flowers!

So today is my birfumday... and I'm now officially no longer a "young adult" whatever the heck that means! Yup, I'm 30. And in honor of my birthday I'm going to post on.... flowers. Cause I luv em!

Aaaaaaand because my mom and dad took my whole fambly to the Tulip Festival at Thanksgiving Point this last weekend! Ahhhhh those gardens make me want to just lay down in the grass and give up all the cares of the world... but alas, I would get sunburned! Oh, wait! I already am! (Jer claims that I got my own brand of a "tramp stamp" because my lower back is so sunburned from working in our yard almost all day Friday! I was just so HAPPY to see SUNSHINE... I COULDN'T RESIST! COULDN'T!!!)

(I feel a tangent coming on...)

Anyhow, on the way down there Jer and I had to laugh, because as everyone knows, Salt Lake City is always under construction... there are no exceptions to that rule. I think the drivers that live and work there have become immune to it. Every once in a while there are those little radar guns that tell you how fast you are going to try to convince you to be more aware of how much you are speeding... right? Everyone has seen those around, and I think every teenager has messed with them at one time or another...

As we are driving along we notice one of these gun thingy-a-bobbies... all was normal. Well... except it seemed to be trying extra hard to get everyones attention. You see, the speed limit was technically 55mph. Everyone was going a bit faster. Okay. Okay! A lot faster! I could picture the thing screaming at the drivers

"SEVENTY TWO!!! SEVENTY FIVE!!! SEVENTY THREEE!!!! YOU PEOPLE DISGUST ME!!"

It was rather humorous... I guess you just had to be there :)

(okay, end of tangent!)

When we got to the gardens the day was perfect. It was the kind of day that I wish would last all summer long!

It was not to hot, not to windy, just breezy enough... it was the kind of day that if the kids really wanted to go and play in the sprinklers they could have, but it wasn't so hot that I would have insisted on staying inside while they did so! (I know, I'm a heat pansy... I don't handle hot well. I would rather be cold then hot...)

The tulips were awesome! and Colorful! and so much what I needed after a week of rain and no color at home!
Jer pulled the kids in the wagon for a while, but honestly my dad pulled them the majority of the time. :) Thanks Dad!!! The kids adored it and had lots of fun doing everything there!

They rolled down the hills, and Turbo spend a lot of time looking for sprinklers (cause, ya know, we went to the gardens to look at the sprinklers! Derrrrr)

Jer also had fun rolling down the kill (and trying not to take out kids on the way down! lol)

(See, told you dad pulled the kids around!)

Anyhow, It was an awesome, beautiful, flower filled day! :)

Oh, and sorry about the plethora of pictures, but it's MY birthday, so MEH! To you!

Here... have some more! MWHAHAHAHAHA! (I love flowers... can you tell? ... hey, wait... that could have been why I was a florist... hmmmm)

Oh... and I think my kids are pretty great too....

Even if I did get a sunburn! Thanks Mom and Dad!!! It was awesome and I don't think I would have ever made it down there if it hadn't been for you!

The Energizer Bunny Turns Two!

Today the little man turned two! I can't believe it's already been two years since he was born. Crazy I tell you!

This morning the kids played in the water at Gma S's house. They had a load of fun and the birthday boy managed to get a bit sunburned int eh process. Poor kid, guess it has to happen sometimes though.

This evening we had a family birthday party for EB. He was scared of the candles though....

So Jer persuaded EB to blow them out "with" him.

He loved the cake and ice cream (of course, what kid doesn't???) and then got right into the presents. He got some great ones! Lots of toys tools which fit his personality perfectly, and a train and some tracks too. He was really excited!

What a cute kiddo, I'm so happy he is in our family!

Missy

So, tonight we went up to my parents house for a BBQ and to have cake and ice cream for Missy's birthday.

Here is a pic of the princess girl!

And here is a pic of her reaction when Jer told her we were going to hit her on the head with her presents and make her guess what they are....

*snicker* not a very nice way to tell a four year old about that tradition! Needless to say we didn't do that this year :D

Last Weekend for Water Fun!

Ok so this weekend is the last weekend that the closest water park is open. So my parents took my whole fam for a day of water fun. Today was my mom's birthday and she has been wanting to take us all summer... it ended up being kind of a last shabang before it gets cold (I know, I know! It feels like summer just got here! But honestly I was looking at one of my bushes in the front yard and seriously it's starting to change color. Eeek).

Goober is usually freaked out about ANY water hitting his face, but by the time we left he was all for running through the waterfalls etc with squeals of laughter :) I really need to get him in the water more.

Little Li loved crawling around in his swim diapers and would go into the water to the point that as he was crawling his mouth almost in it ... then he would lift up his legs and move around via hands LOL

Of course this next picture is of Goober being just that.... a goober! :)

Missy My had a load of fun going down the kids water slide and going on the inner tubes on the "Lazy River".

This is Goober shooting the water gun at Grandpa J and Missy My cheering him on!

After a day of swim Little Li was plumb tuckered out! He was the most calm I have ever seen him without actually being asleep.

Afterwords we went and had ice cream and then headed home.
As we were finishing ice cream Goober (who of course can never get enough) wanted to go to Grandma and Grandpa's house... he asked me "Mom, can we go to their house?" I replied "I don't think so bud."
"Are you driving?"
"No."
"Then your not the man I want to talk to!"
ROFL .... and for your info Jer also said no... and he was driving. :D

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!

Happy #5 Jakers!

So Saturday after getting the van (which made us have to bring by birthday presents later) we headed to Nat's house for Jakob's birthday party! Nat did a great job with the party, the kids had fun and she didn't seem stressed out (major bonus!).

First the kids played "Put the heart on Ironman"

Then they got to color Ironman pictures (Missy calls him "Other"-man)

Then they got to make necklaces out of fruitloops with Ironman "hearts" on them :) here is Goober doing his Ironman pose.... Jakob did a great one that I missed getting a picture of but I have to say... Goobers wasn't half bad either!

Then they played Tag with silly string! Dylan got totally hammered by the string but seamed to love love love it.

Jakob opening presents!

Jakob was so good, he even let Goober try on his Ironman mask!

Jakob and his Cake!

Petey doing an Ironman pose! Gooooo Petey!
