Sorry I haven't posted in a few...

I'm struggling with a bit of depression at the moment, and can't think of much that is worthwhile and not uber depressing to blog about.

A "new" thought on why they hate us so much.

Have you ever heard that the terrorists hate us so much because of our money? Or maybe our education?

What about our feminism?

I hadn't thought of it before, but it makes perfect sense. If your interested here is the article that brought this possibility to my attention.

I decided...

That I don't like our government. It is no longer "for the people", it's "for the politicians". That's a huge problem. Term limits people... there is something appealing about someone running for office with the idea that their stay in office is temporary and not something owed to them.

Holy Whinefest.

For the last couple of days Goober has been a major whiner. I think it probably has to do with the fact that I now have to get him up early again for school and the missionaries came over last night to give us a pep talk about helping them do missionary work. As a consequence the two older kids went to bed later than usual.

Yesterday Goober got into trouble with one of his friends parents. Basically he and one of the kids were wrestling and she told him to get off and he didn't... then when 3 yr old little brother started hitting Goober to get him to get off, Goober threw a snowball at him.... not okay, the snow is now hard. Anyhow, when mom asked what happened Goober got an attitude with her and she told him if he wasn't going to tell her that he couldn't come over to their house and play. Needless to say, Goober came home bawling.

When I called and found out what happened I made sure Goober made a special "I'm sorry" card for mom, and we took a special trip over to their house to have him say sorry to everyone. Mom wasn't home, but we left the card and said sorry to the siblings.

Today Goober told me his friend had said that Goober couldn't come over to play there, but that Goober could come over and ask if he could come here.

Turbo was being an kamikaze kid and jumping on people soon after Goober got home from school so I had to put him down for a nap after he jumped on and hurt Goober.

Well, because I really don't want to have an uber loud house when Turbo is down for a nap I told Goober that he couldn't go and see if his friend wanted to play here. That if his friend came over on his own then they could play here.

Is that unreasonable? The kid never comes to see if Goober can play, it's always Goober going there. I feel like the parents probably think I'm pushing my kids off on them, but Goober has said that his friend only likes to play at his house. I wonder if the kid likes Goober or just puts up with him. It kind of worries me, honestly.

Anyhow, because of this Goober has continued with the whinefest today. Asking every so often if we can call and ask him over, or if I can call his mom. To which I reply no. Then he whines that he wants him to see that he passed all the "levels" on his Star Wars Wii game. etc etc

I'm thinking about moving bedtimes up if this continues. UGH.

And It's Started....

The beginning stages of potty training that is.... Oh the joys of Potty Training.

I think the Energizer Bunny aka EB aka Turbo will probably have the least restrictive potty training experience on the planet. After all the joy of potty training Goober, I don't want to make the same mistake again. I WILL NOT make this a power struggle. Been down that road... don't want to visit again.

So basically potty training Turbo will be all his choice. No pushing from mom.

Today he asked me if he could use the potty... so I let him try. He sat for a couple then decided he was done and wanted to flush the potty. Great. Nooooo problem. Then I asked if he wanted me to put a diaper on him or undies (I bought him some undies the other day, just in case). For the first time he responded undies. So we put some one him.

I have no clue how long those undies will stay unsoiled, but HEY! He wants to wear them so YIPPY! it's a step. And if they become wet and he doesn't want to wear them anymore... fine. Great by me. I'm not going to push it. I truly believe that that was my #1 mistake while potty training Goober... that and the fact that I didn't know how to tell if he was "ready" because he is my oldest child.

Honestly, I don't remember much about potty training Missy. It went to smooth... I was just happy it was done. I think she was done in less than a week. Goober on the other hand I struggled with for years. If you think I'm kidding, I really wish I was. I potty trained Missy while I was still trying to potty train Goober. They are 2 years age difference. You do the math.

I am bound and determined with Turbo to make it all his choice... he has a couple of years till I have to make it more than that. And at that point I can talk logic (though not much).

Anyhow, wish Turbo luck and cross your fingers that he chooses to do this quickly (for me, ya know.)

9 am Church....

Ugh. Hope we make it.....

It Snowed

and it snowed, and it snowed some more.... the snow blower had a hard time getting through the stuff on the driveway this morning even though I cleared it just last night! We probably got a good 4 inches during the night, which isn't that much in and of itself, but the fact that it was heavy and wet made the snow blower clog up.

After clearing the drive, I came in and told Goober that is was good "snowman" snow... he instantly wanted to go outside and build one... and Missy joined in! So we got all three kids bundled up and shoveled them into the back yard, After which I told Jer to go get his snow stuff on too... we were ALL going outside dang it! He boobed a little, but in the end I like to think he had fun playing in the snow, throwing snowballs at the kids, and building something that resembles a snowman (we didn't have carrots or sticks or anything... so really it's more of a snow "tower" than a snow "man", but that is okay!).

There is no way I'm going out on the roads today, the snow has melted just enough underneath to make it wicked slick... even just for walking on the newly cleared driveway! To all those that have more guts than me and venture out in their vehicles ... GOOD LUCK... and heaven forbid.. STAY OFF YOUR CELL PHONES!

----------------

PS just discovered our city is stupid... oh wait, I already knew that... it's just been reaffirmed. They aren't starting snow removal till tomorrow..... what in the.... apparently so that the snow can melt a little, freeze hard again, become black ice, then have the remaining "non slick" snow scraped off of the top to make it an ice skating rink.... sigh.
