Worries

I hate this time when my babies are between 4-7 months old. Not the babies themselves. They are wonderful. But because of my fear of them not getting enough to eat.

If you don't know we had a real scare with Gavin when he went to his 6 month "well baby" checkup at the pediatrician. He had lost a full 2 pounds and me being the naive and ignorant new mom that I was, I had thought that he was just getting longer/"taller". Well, after countless wonderfully fun medical tests (everything from a chest x-ray and MRI to blood work) on a 6 month old no real reason was really found... besides of course the fact that my milk may have come up short.

With Myranda I didn't even really try to nurse past 4 months old due to the fear that she would go hungry... after the first signs that my milk may be going out I instantly switched her to formula.

Well, with Liam I'm doing my best to do all I can to continue nursing... but I still have this nagging fear that I will be naive and stupid again and not realize what is going on until the poor kid has suffered.

So, instead of just loving the heck out of this age of my children, I spend the whole time with a nagging fear in the back of my head that something will go wrong and they will be hurt because I wasn't intelligent enough to see what was going on. And in my opinion this is the age that babies are the cutest DARN IT!!!

*sigh*
Hmmm. Maybe this is the reason behind my paranoia about my childrens safety... ie stairs/windowells

Don't be so hard on yourself. We each have difficult or uncomfortable times due to our naievity. You are a GREAT MOM!!! You adore your kids and it shows.
