... I could right a good post about how "blah" today is. But alas, when I'm "blah" I suck at not sounding totally whiny in my posts.
The main jist of it is that my legs hurt (which is good, but kinda annoying), my kids have a cough, it's cloudy and cold outside, and I need to go to the grocery store.
blah.

This is how I have felt since I was six weeks along. Blah. I'm soooo sick of winter. I'm so sick of being stuck in my stuffy house. I'm so with you, Apes.
On another note, I know you read Nie Nie - do you read her sister, CJane? She did a post today on feminism; I thought of you. Here is the address: http://blog.cjanerun.com/2010/03/i-am-not-it-turns-out.html
I wish we could do links on comments. But you can copy and paste. Anywho, I don't necessarily agree with her, but I know this is one of your favorite topics, so I thought I'd direct you over there!
I used to follow her... and ya, that post made me WAY sad. Does she really not care that she can vote? That she is taken seriously when topics that effect her and brought up? I understand that men and women are inherently different, but just because I want the law to treat them fairly no matter what their gender is ... I don't find being a feminist is a life downer, I don't focus on it constantly, I see the good in life too... and she seems to imply that because I'm a feminist I cannot. Just because I'm a feminist (and own that term) doesn't mean I don't value the differences within a gender.
sad, sad, sad.
I need to go to the store, too. *sigh* I have, like, 5 million things to do tomorrow, and I'm SOOO not looking forward to it.
By the way, thanks so much for calling me the other day! I loved talking to you. We need to get together.
Wow. Sorry, this comment isn't about your post, but it's about the post that Karlenn linked. While there is a ton to say about it, and this probably isn't the place, the thing that I find most incredible is what she said here:
"If that means I am more, then I am more, if that means I am less, I am less. But most of the time I think I am more. And I think most women are too, but that is a post for another day."
Then a commenter posted this quote from Ezra Taft Benson(I'm not including the full quote):
"The conventional wisdom of the day would have you be equal with men. We say, we would not have you descend to that level."
WTH? Why can't people get this figured out? Men are NOT better or more than women. Women are NOT better or more than men. God loves us all equally. And we are to love and respect each other equally.
This mindset of these women trying to make themselves feel better by saying that they sometimes feel better than men is completely backwards and outrageously prideful.
Feminism isn't about being prideful, it's about love. Perfect love accepts all equally. God is Love and he accepts all equally.
Sorry for taking up your blog with my comment, just had to say something. :)
NP Loni.... Ya... I commented on her post about some of that. Thing is it was like 275 comments in LOL doubt she will read all of that.
I just think the ignorance (not trying to be condescending, just don't have a better word) about the damage inequality can do and how it not only effects each of us but the world, really is depressing.
I agree with your use of the word ignorance. Not just about the damage that inequality can do, but also the ignorance of what women have struggled through over the years so that the woman that posted that blog has the right to post blogs. If there had never been a women's movement, she wouldn't be able to speak her mind so freely or probably even have equal access to things like computers, the internet, etc. The post was prideful, ignorant and extremely upsetting. Two thumbs down for that one. If I had a third thumb, I'd put that one down as well.
I wholeheartedly agree with what you, Apes, and you, Loni, have said. Every time I read a Jane Austen novel, or a Khaled Hosseini novel, I get down on my knees and thank Heavenly Father that I live here, now, with rights. I was able to get an education. I'm able to get a job in any field I wish. We are so lucky. Men and women are inherently different, but should always be treated equally.
