As I've been starting to look into religion and belief systems of people I'm finding something that is rather prevalent. Everyone seems to think that their own way is the only way to get to heaven... that everyone else is sorely mistaken.
The thing I don't get is why we must all focus on the things that divide us so much... be they political or religious or any number of other things. Why can't we focus more on how we are all the same? Isn't this what Deity is trying to teach us?

It's true-a lot of aspects of different religions are the same.
Well, that would just make life too peaceful. Sheesh, April. Don't you know that humans love to stress each other out?
Really, the truth can only be shown through love. So if someone is saying "you're wrong" in an offensive way, it's really just their pride talking. And pride is sinful.
By focusing on how we are all the same, if you mean - wanting/needing love and wanting/needing to love others - then yes, I would agree that that is what Deity is trying to teach us :)
I'm sick of divisiveness, too. Especially in politics. I feel like our legislators don't ever get anything DONE. They just sit and fight.
