Poor little sicko...
Well, the Energizer Bunny isn't so much of a never ending battery lately.
You know that fever that Missy and Goober had? Well now EB has it. He's had it since yesterday, and lets just say that he's not so agreeable as his sibling were when they had it.
First, he woke up at three this morning.... thank goodness after a short time he let me put him back to bed... but then he decided that six am was late enough to sleep and that it was time for his big brother to be awake too.
Then of course we had to be uber clingy and not let mom get much done today, which I was pretty much expecting so that was ok. He also took two naps so that was good. Except now it seems he doesn't want to stay asleep tonight. So I guess we will see in the morning.
Wish us luck and that the kidlet will feel better in the morning! (and that this thing doesn't continue to be passed on the Jer and I!)

Feeling like a crappy parent....
So Goober asked Jer to cut his hair the other day...
Goober hates even the thought of Jer or I cutting his hair. Hates it. Screams bloody murder at the trimmers. So I was very surprised when he asked.
He did it because he saw Jer cutting EBs hair with no problem whatsoever. EB standing there looking around and Jer just running the trimmers through his hair....
Looking back on it, maybe we should have tried to cut his hair right then. But we didn't. We decided to wait till tonight.
Jer took a bar stool and put it out on the back deck, you know, less cleanup that way. And then had Goober sit on the bar stool.
Ya, not such a great idea.
As soon as Jer touched his hair with the trimmers the screaming commenced. Except now there wasn't really much of an option...cause Goober had a big bald patch just above his left ear. And of course we didn't think about the fact that if he freaked out all the hair places would be closed for the night. And Goober has school in the morning.
Basically it was one of three options... let Goober go to school and be made fun of (not keen on that one), Let Goober stay home from school and take him to get his hair cut (He already missed today due to a low grade fever this morning), or somehow get the kid to let us finish cutting his hair.....
Yah, can I say NONE of those happened. It was not good.
Basically Jer and I ruled out options one and two because we are trying to be good parents and trying to protect our kid from humiliation and also trying not to give him the impression that school is optional.
So we proceeded to try to bribe the kid. "You can have a sucker" and "Afterwords you can have a Popsicle".
Nope. No can do.
Then it changed to "Honey, this doesn't hurt" (for some reason he is set on the fact that a haircut from Jer or I hurts.... EB didn't think so.... *sigh*) and "can you be really brave? What can I do to help? Will holding your hand help?" and attempting to try to continue cutting his hair. Commence freak out.
Then it started to get really tiring. And cold outside... and starting to get dark. It was "Goober stop freaking out or your going to loose the video games for tomorrow" ...
Nope. No can do. Nothing was working. And seeing no other options that were really viable Jer and I commenced to cut Goobers hair the hard way. With him struggling and freaking out the whole time.
Afterword I was sure to let him know I loved him, gave him hugs and kisses, tried to explain that I wasn't trying to hurt either him or his feelings. How do you explain that to a kid?
Now that I look back on it (only about 30 minutes ago) I think that maybe I should have just let him go to school with it that way... or maybe just kept him home and took him to a hair place tomorrow. I mean, really? Would he ever remember that he once missed school to get a haircut?
I'm afraid he will have horrid first memories of Jer and I trying to cut his hair. I think he may have trust issues with us... I wonder why? Maybe because we push issues like this that are not that important? Maybe some other reason... I don't know....
Either way, I feel like a really crappy parent at the moment.

Huh? Easter? What's that?
So for the most part I have been pretending Easter isn't happening.... not such a good thing when I realize that procrastinating DOESN'T make this holiday go away.... So today I decided to let the kids do something Eastery..ish
We dyed eggs.
Sad thing is that I'm not much of a celebrator of holidays... I don't really get into it that much. I think this may be the first time we have ever dyed eggs. I know. Sad.
Needless to say the kids liked it, even though Goober was complaining about his ear hurting (it went away though thank goodness). They really liked the little crayon thing that you write on the eggs with to keep the dye from sticking. :D I colored some for EB cause he was down for a nap. I did NOT want to fight him while doing eggs. Heavens, that would NOT be fun! So I avoided that too. :)
Anyhow, guess I should probably bite the bullet and get the rest of the stuff for Easter, huh.

Say "Thank You!" ...to a husband that has no issues calling me out. :P
Today is GORGEOUS!!! I'm so happy to have such a beautiful day! We would SO be out in it right now.... except Goober came home with a fever from school today. :P
Missy had this same thing over the weekend. No other symptoms, just a fever. Kinda a high fever too. Count my blessings for no pukies. Count, count, count!
This is our new fence! YAY it's almost done! Then I can clean up the dog bombs in the backyard and probably tell them to "GO OUTSIDE" and play. Well..... except right now that would be a slightly hard thing to do.
You see, the only way to our backyard at the moment is through the garage. Can we say Dum, dum, DUMB! We are trying to remedy that at the moment too though.
We just had these wonderful stairs installed.
They work great..... one problem....

Yeah, gonna have to wait for the fence to be finished then the fence guy will get back to putting a railing on the stairs and opening the railing TO said stairs!
This is the almost finished side gate. Soon, I keep thinking....sooooon. All that needs to be finished on the fence are the latches for the gates and a couple of boards (I think... maybe some adjusting so that everything fits snuggly).
As for the other things mentioned by DEAREST... he would have to bring up the fact that I mangled a tablecloth I was making. How? you may ask How do you mess up a TABLECLOTH!? I mean... all you do is serge and do the edges...right? Right. Well.... I managed to serge off the wrong side of the tablecloth... the side that wasn't too long.... actually, the side that was TOO SHORT. Ugh. Oh, well.... at least the fabric is on clearance! At least I hope it's still on clearance.....
So, THAT my dears is what has been happening lately. :) Say "Thank You" to Jer

As far as the car goes. You know, the car that is paid off? Well, if it's not payments it's fix its. Friday Jer came home from work and informed me that the window on the car is hosed. Yah. It doesn't go up anymore... in fact the darned thing FELL down and won't go up anymore. grrrr. So guess what that means my dears? It means that Jer and I get the try to CRAM the thing into our garage... which was at the time, jam CRAMMED, with STUFF. Luckily we were somehow able to manage it. Well, come Monday we take the car in to have it fixed, and apparently to find out (as always) that other things need to be done as well. Supposedly we are supposed to get the car back no later than tomorrow night... supposedly. That's if another part doesn't come in wrong :P
So, THAT my dears is what has been happening lately. :) Say "Thank You" to Jer
(luv you honey!)
